I use test kits! I used the Salifert kits for a long time, but they are kind of a pain. I move to API kits, but they aren't as accurate. Now I'm using Elos test kits. They are a litte more expensive, but they are easier and they are accurate!

These graphs were taken quite some time ago when I was running an ACJR and keeping notes in Aquanotes. I've moved onto to an APEX Lite and keep my tank notes over at http://www.reeftools.com/live/SlvrSurfRidr/ (look for the "tank parameters" tab)

kripas - I stopped using this setup about year ago, got tired of not being able to get full access from the web and picked up APEX Lite to replace it. However, if I remember correctly, I had problems like you are mentioning. I was able to resolve them (if I remember correctly), by power cycling the GBS301 (just unplug and plug back in). Make sure you are in range, maybe try setting the whole thing up at your desk so you don't have to run back and forth to your tank a hundred times!

Wish I could be of more help, but like I said ... I stopped using this setup about a year ago.

Great post,I followed your instruction but no luck for me. if I do a direct connection using serial cable directly to my PC works fine, but when I hooked up my iogear bluetooth ,my computer see it and Im able to connect but no connection from my AC jr,tried aqua notes and ac2web work fine using direct connection, tried different class 1 usb bluetooth still no luck,The only thing I can think of is the serial cable,I got it somewhere. Are you using the serial cable from Neptune? or where did you get your cable. Thanks!

Hey Moises,

We've looked at several skimmers since this article was posted. The Sapphire skimmer has been discontinued as the company went out of business, so as of this post we aren't recommending it anymore. While it is a good skimmer, if you are looking for an internal skimmer for your tank (as opposed to a HOB) then I would strongly recommend the Tunze 9002

When changing any lamp, you should start with a either a much shorter photoperiod or raise the light higher up - a combination of both methods works best. Time period to acclimatise your tank will depend on your corals - but I found a 10-14 day period worked best for me when using various K 150w MH over my old 12g system.

[...] Sapphire Aquatics NC24/28 (n/a) -There are several above average elements of this skimmer, and there are also some areas it leaves lacking. Construction is awesome, pump is SUPER quiet, The collection cup fits without any modification to the hood (and is VERY easily removable), price is good for what you get, customer service WAS great (company went out of business). For those of you that missed out, I wrote a more extensive review of this skimmer last week. Just follow the link above and you’ll get the full 411 [...]
